If this isn't nice, what is?

This is Nate's little corner of the web. It is place for thoughts, conjectures, opinions and even a few facts. But most of all, it is a place for friends to drop in, say hello, and sometimes tell me just how wrong my thoughts, conjectures, opinions and even a few facts are.

Slippage

Over a week since my last post - oops. Ironically, it wasn't until I was on vacation that I couldn't find time to write. I've just been busy getting ready for my trip to China, catching up on errands and trying to squeeze in as much golf as possible.

As for my trip, I'm off to Beijing on Labor Day. I'm going to be spending about three weeks in China with two of my classmates from b-school as well as visiting my friend Tim who is over there travelling and completing an intensive language program. We're going to start in Beijing and see all the big sites (Great Wall, Forbidden City) as well as doing some hiking in an area outside the city. Then we head to Xian to see the terracotta warriors, Shanghai, Guilin and finally Hong Kong (see map).

Usually I'm the one who does all the planning for the trips Tara and I take, but this time one of the guys I'm going with really took charge of figuring stuff out. So while I appreciate not having to comb the web figuring what to do and where to go, making reservations and the like, I also feel like I'm going into the unknown moreso than on previous trips. This is compounded by the fact that I've never been to Asia and only once to a place that didn't use a derivation of the Latin alphabet (Greece).

My buddy Tim has been successfully blogging about his time in China (see link on the right) so I'm hoping to do the same. So in lieu of regularly scheduled programming, this is going to turn into a travel blog for the month of September.
